Getting married is one of the biggest things you do in life. You have found the love of your life, your partner in crime, the person who will rejoice in your successes and support you unconditionally in your worst setbacks.
It’s a moment worth celebrating and a moment you’ll remember for the rest of your life. The moment is worth making extra special.
But how do you choose the right cigars for your wedding and what do you offer your guests?
If you are the groom or the bride, don’t be afraid to take a premium cigar that stands out from what you will offer your guests. They will understand you, considering that it is your special day. Take your dream cigar that you have been longing for and haven’t treated yourself to.
What is worth thinking extra about, however, is what cigar you want to offer your guests.
Premium cigar or not?
You can treat your guests to a slightly finer premium cigar which in a larger group can be expensive depending on the number of guests or you can choose a cigar that is not considered premium at a lower your costs. How much you intend to spend is up to you, there is no right or wrong. One advice is not to go for ultra premium. Why? The wedding is to celebrate your marrige, it is most likely that the guests will not fully enjoy just what the cigar has to offer, they will focus on the celebration. The guests will remember the cigars as a luxurious extra you offered them. They will not focus on premium or not. They will be happy for what ever you might give them.
How to calculate the number of cigars to buy?
I would say sell the rings, stock up on cigars instead and you can have the cigars that are left over for a few months to come, but that’s not really good advice.
Cigars are known to be a symbol of celebration. Even those who don’t smoke cigars or smoke them rarely have a tendency to light one when it comes to big celebrations to mark the occasion. I would say count on cigars for at least 70 – 80 percent of the adult guests if not more. It’s better to have a few extra than too few.
Which type of body should you choose?
A person who smokes full-bodied cigars can handle medium and mild cigars, while those who smoke mild or medium cigars may not be able to handle full-bodied cigars. If you are going to choose a type of cigar, then choose one that is mild or on the lower end of medium, that way more people can enjoy them. However, if you choose two or more varieties, choosing is easier, then you can take both the slightly milder cigar and the full-bodied one.
What cigar size should you choose?
I don’t think it should be too big a cigar. The reason is that a lot usually happens during the day/evening that you shouldn’t miss. Speeches are made, laughter are shared, dinner is served, the traditional cake is cut, the wedding dance and the atmosphere is at its peak.
Size doesn’t matter, they say, but here it does a little. Many people have a preconceived idea that a small cigar is not to celebrate with, (something I don’t really agree with) but it’s about the feeling. I would have chosen a corona or classic robusto which takes around 1 hour max and are classic sizes that will give the celebratory feeling.
Cigar cutter and lighter how should you think?
Even if you invest in premium cigars, I think you should buy cutters and lighters that are in the cheapest range. The reason is that they will most likely not be used often after. There is an incredibly large selection of cutters and lighters that are incredibly sharp for a cheap price. What could be fun for the guests is to make cutters with your own engraving, date and name. A memory for the guests. It can be done incredibly cheaply online and will be appreciated.
