Matilde wasn’t particularly complex in terms of flavor volume or changes between the thirds. It could be divided into two parts and the last third was more like the flavors from the second third were heightened a bit and became darker, but nothing worth giving a third of its own.
Construction
The Matilde renacer robusto was firm and evenly rolled with an incredibly light oily feel to it.
Band impression
I didn’t get any special feeling from the band. Looking at the Matilde renacer the only feeling i got was as it was created to be a everyday cigar.
Size of Matilde renacer robusto
The vitola we reviewed was a robust with a ring gauge 54 and length 5 1/4. (Ring gauge 21,5mm – length 133mm).
Blend
Matilde renacer robusto had a Ecuadorian Wrapper, Dominican binder and fillers from Dominican and Nicaragua.
Scent and cold draw
The wrapper smelled of chocolate and hay while the filler smelled of hay.
The cold draft of Matilde Renacer Robusto gave flavors of maltiness.
1/2 Let’s light up Matilde renacer robusto
After toasting the Matilde Renacer robusto, I was first greeted by a rich and creamy mouth-filling texture. The dominant flavors the cigar delivered to the palette were Hay, general pepperiness, minerals, a flavor that I can only describe as Autumn Leaves, Fir Needles and Leather. The taste of Autumn Leaves gave a rather pleasant feeling and elevated the experience in a good way. In the background I could feel flavors of vanilla bean, syrup-like sweetness and dried herbs.
The retrohalation was smooth and the nuances I felt were woodiness with a hint of white pepper
2/2 The cigar shows a minor complexity
As I entered the second half of the Matilde renacer robusto the cigar showed a lighter complexity and it was these flavors that remained until the end of the smoke. The texture of the Matilde was still creamy as in the first third, the most dominant flavor was now leather which took a big leap forward on the palette followed by flavors of hay, general coffee, spruce woodiness, earth, cacao, spruce needles, white pepper, honey-like sweetness, raisins and breadiness. The retrohalation was smooth and the nuances I felt were general woodiness.
After taste
The cigar had a after taste of walenut
Smoke time
The smoke time of Matilde renacer robusto was approximately 70 minutes.
Draw
The draw was neither too tight nor too loose.
Burn quality
The burn line of Matilde Renacer Robusto was as you would expect from a quality cigar. It burned evenly from beginning to end.
Body of Matilde renacer robusto
The cigar had a medium body.
Price of the cigar
The average price for Matilde Renacer Robusto is between 9-12 dollars.
Conclusion
Matilde Renacer Robusto is a good everyday cigar with a medium body. The medium body makes the Matilde cigar suitable for most cigar smokers. The cigar is not particularly complex and does not offer too many flavors. You can divide it into two parts. If I compare price vs. taste vs. quality, I feel that Matilde Renacer Robusto is where it should be in terms of price.
