Valentino siesto Sungrown Robusto

This cigar offered an absolutely incredible taste experience.A lovely complexity from start to finish.

Conctrustion

The Valentino siesto Sungrown Robusto cigar was incredibly firm, one of the firmest cigars I’ve reviewed. It was on the verge that I almost thought it was a big twig and not a cigar. The band around the cigar gave me several emotions. I got the feeling of pure luxury and at the same time as if it was made for some elite military unit.

Wrapper: Habano sun grown – Binder: Dominican – Filler: Dominican

Smell and cold draw

The scent I smelled on the wrapper was nuttiness and sweetness. A sweetness that reminded a little of a coffee break where the scent of cookies slowly fills the room. The scented filler had a scent of coffee beans. The cold draft produced flavors of hay and nuttiness with a slight sweetness.

1/3 Lets light up the Valentino siesto Sungrown Robusto

Valentino siesto siesto Sungrown Robusto

When I roasted the cigar I was not prepared for how much it had to offer.  The texture was slightly buttery, but nothing that was particularly noteworthy. The prominent flavors i felt were general nuttiness, earthiness, and woodiness. The woodiness leaned towards cedar wood, and I also detected hay and a floral sweetness. In the background there was flavors of herbs, nutmeg, saltiness and coffee beans. The retrohale was smooth and gave shades of ceder.

2/3 The Valentino Siesto Sungrown shows complexity

As I moved into the second third of the cigar, the texture came forward a bit and became a touch more buttery. The flavors I felt were hay, coffee beans, a nuttiness that went in the direction of almonds and almond paste. In the background there were flavors of general florality, syrupy sweetness, a fruitiness reminiscent of dates and a slight pepperiness. The rethrohale was smooth and gave shades of ceder and hay.

3/3 Let’s see how the cigar ends

The cigar delivered an incredible amount of flavors in the last third. The flavors oscillated between flares as if they were competing for which flavor you felt the most. The texture changed a bit and became a mix of buttery and creamy. The flavors the cigar offered were oak, cedar, coffee beans, a roasted and salted nut mix, syrup-like sweetness, peach peel, floral, hay, fresh herbs and saltiness. In the background there was licorice, fruitiness, lemon-like acidity, dates, almond paste, pepperiness and milkiness. The retrohalation was smooth and gave nuances of hay and nuttiness.

After taste

The cigar had a after taste of walenuts and hay.

Body

Medium bordering on mild.

Smoke time

60 minutes

Conclusion

A complex cigar with lots of flavors. The flavors are well balanced. The body, which is medium on the border of mild, suits most cigar smokers. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think you get quite a lot of cigar for the money.
