Foundation cigars charter oak Connecticut Broadleaf cigar review

Construction

The Foundation charter oak was firmly rolled and you should feel the craftsmanship of the torcedors by how well the cigar was made. I couldn’t feel any veins, soft or hard lumps in the cigar that would cause problems when smoking it. There was an oiliness that wrapped around the cigar that was neither thick nor thin, it felt more silky.

Band impression

When I looked at the cigar’s paper band, a feeling came to me, it felt like the picture was taken from an old diary that is in a museum. As part of a story we will never know more about. I find it interesting how the presentation can awaken one’s thoughts.

The Foundation charter oak we reviewed was a Toro with a size of 6×52 (Lenght 152mm x ring gauge 20,5mm)

Scent and cold draw

The Charter Oak had a aroma of chocolate with a hint of hay.

Lets light up the Foundation Charter oak Connecticut Broadleaf

The cigar did not have complexity in the form of classic thirds, the complexity of Foundation cigars charter oak Connecticut Broadleaf was most easily described as a race between the flavors. The flavors you feel from the beginning are the same until the end but with a twist. The flavors of the cigar fluctuate a lot, you never know which flavor will be the most prominent when you take a puff. It created a dynamic and complexity all the way from the beginning to the end of the smoke.

The first thing I was greeted with after lighting the cigar was a creamy and surprisingly rich texture. A texture that would satisfy most cigar smokers.
The dominant flavors I felt from the Charter oak Connecticut Broadleaf cigar were Dried fruits and strangely enough with a lighter hint of dried pineapple, I don’t remember if I’ve felt dried pineapple feeling before in a cigar. The pineapple itself was a strange flavor to feel in a cigar but incredibly pleasant, I almost thought I was imagining it. In addition to pineapple there was hay, leather, earth, general woodiness and licorice. In the background there were a lot of flavors that showed how complex the cigar really was, the flavors I felt were espresso, raisins, honey-like sweetness, white pepper without the pepperiness, minerals, cacao and a florality that reminded me of potpourri. The retrohalation was smooth and gave a nuanced combination of wood and hay.

Foundation cigars charter oak Connecticut Broadleaf had a little bit of everything, you could say. Everything from earthy flavors, to sweetness and unique fruitiness.
