Lampert 1675 Edicion morado toro

Lampert Edicion morado toro

Construction

The cigar was firm and evenly rolled with no noticeable veins at all that would affect the smoking.  The cover had a lighter smooth oily feel.

Wrapper: Mexico – Binder: Nicaragua – Filler: Nicaragua

Taste

Smell and cold draw

I liked how it all started, it was hard to put my finger on the exact scent of the wrapper, the easiest way is that it was a combination of dark chocolate, hay and almond.  The filler smelled like a combination of hay and wood.  I took a few puffs and felt hints of hay and dark chocolate.  The cold draw of the cigar can be said to work a bit as a good appetizer at a dinner.

1/3 of Lampert 1675 morado toro

What met my taste buds at first was a creamy yet buttery texture. A texture that made the cigar not to feel dry and made it a little extra pleasant to smoke. The flavors the cigar gave were cacao, a creamy chocolate shade, cedar wood, a nuttiness reminiscent of almonds, in the background as secondary flavors there was espresso with a sweetness that is best described as brown sugar, old fashioned caramel and a floweriness in the background that went in the tulip direction.  The retrohalation was smooth and reminiscent of fresh spices. What I found incredibly interesting was that i felt a mixture of dark chocolate and nuttiness between the puffs instead of the classic dry walnut flavor. The only thing annoying was that somewhere in the first three centimeters there was some kind of blockage that made the draw way too hard, but after that the cigar was absolutely incredible.

2/3 The cigar showed a nice complexity

As I entered the second third, the cigar showed a nice complexity.  The texture was creamy and the flavors I felt were dark chocolate mixed with cacao, oak and cedar mixed, leather, fresh spices, general pepperiness, espresso and general nuttiness.  There was a lighter sweetness that balanced all the flavors in an incredibly pleasant way.  The retrohalation was not as smooth as before and gave nuances of black pepper and cayenne pepper.

3/3 I didn’t want to put the cigar down.

The texture changed one last time and shocked a little. Once a texture disappears, it rarely comes back. The texture was now buttery with a slight creaminess in the background. The flavors of the cigar were finished with, Espresso, cedar, salt, cacao, leather, cinnamon, hay and almond.  In the background there was dark berry fruitiness and a nice acidity that balanced the cigar.  The retrohalation tickles the nose with nuances of cayenne pepper and hay.

After taste

The cigar left a very dry feel and gave the classic taste of walnuts.

Body

Upper part of medium bordering on full.

Smoke time

60 minutes

Conclusion

A good cigar with smooth complexity.  A good balance between the flavors.  Body was on the upper limit of medium almost full which suits the slightly seasoned Aficionado.  If I compare price vs. taste vs. quality, I would like to say that it is where it should be, maybe a little underpriced.
