Impressively smooth and flavorful cigar.
Construction
I don’t know why, but I got the feeling of a luxurious everyday cigar when I held it. Like it was there to add a golden edge to the day.
The cigar was incredibly firm and evenly rolled and had a slightly oily feel to it.
Wrapper: Ecuador – Binder: Dominican – Filler: Dominican
Smell and cold draw
The aroma was surprisingly pleasant and gave off aromas of fruitiness and sweetness. The cold draft was so nice that you can enjoy it for a long time beforehand, for example during the day as an appetizer until it is time to light the cigar in the evening. The flavors I felt were hay, fruitiness and oats.

1/3 Lets light up the PDR 1878 Capa Shade Grown Robusto cigar
The texture was creamy and at the same time slightly buttery, surprisingly smooth and pleasant. It didn’t take long for the cigar to show that it had a mild body. The dominant flavors I felt were sweet woodiness, sweet fruitiness, butter and sugar-like sweetness. In the backround there were flavors of hay, caffe latte, freshly picked herbs and citrus. The retrohalation tickled the nose a little and gave nuances of white pepper and hay. The cigar was incredibly sweet and smooth.

2/3 The cigar shows enjoyable complexity
As I entered the second third of the PDR 1878 Capa Shade Grown robusto, it showed a soft, smooth complexity. The texture was creamy and the butteriness from earlier was gone. The flavors I felt were fresh herbs, sweet fruitiness, woodiness, sweet almond-like nuttiness and hay. In the background was a honey-like sweetness, raisins, citrus peel and a flavor I can’t quite explain. The flavor is best described as sweet sugar cookie dough which sounds a little funny but was incredibly interesting. The retrohalation was smooth and gave nuances of nuttiness, white pepper and hay.
3/3 let’s see how PDR 1878 Capa Shade Grown Robusto ends
When I got into the last third, there were a lot of flavors competing to be dominant and the cigar was going full blast. Absolutely amazing. The texture was creamy and the butteriness from the first third was back which made the cigar smoother than it was before. The last third was incredibly smooth. The flavors of the cigar were fresh herbs, sweet fruitiness, sweet woodiness, raisins mixed with dates, hay with a hint of grass, sweet citrus, sugar cookie dough and the honey-like sweetness that was in the background were now among the dominant flavors. In the background there were shades of florality, spice and leather. The retrohalation was smooth and gave shades of hay and cedar. When I got to the end and it was almost time to put the cigar down, leather became the most dominant flavor.

Conclusion
PDR 1878 Capa Shade Grown Robusto is an incredibly smooth cigar with wonderful complexity that is surprisingly sweet. The body that is on the mild side can be enjoyed by all aficionados. If I compare price vs taste vs quality I think you get a lot of cigar for the money. I would consider paying more to smoke it again.
