Incredibly interesting. The cigar did not offer classic thirds, or continue in the same way from start to finish, it was like the first third continued to where the third third usually starts and skipped the second third.
Construction
The band around the cigar was simple but yet elegant. The cigar was evenly and finely rolled and the unleaf had a slightly coarser oiliness.
Wrapper: Connecticut – Binder: Nicaragua – Filler: Nicaragua and Dominican.
Taste
Smell and cold draw
The scent of the wrapper was incredibly sweet and reminded me of milk chocolate with vanilla elements. The filler strangely smelled like chocolate cake. Absolutely incredible smells I must say. It was the kind of scents you would want to have next to you all day and then in the evening light the cigar. The cold draft was reminiscent of chocolate cake with a slight fruitiness. An incredibly good and pleasant start to the cigar.
1/3 and 2/3 of Rocky Patel 1999 Conneticut belicoso
It all started with a creamy texture that brought flavors of the general fruitiness and dark berries. there was a nuttiness reminiscent of almonds that balanced out the sweetness a bit.In the background there was light espresso, woody nuances and a chocolate blend as secondary flavors. As I approached the end of the first part, shades of leather and a nice saltiness came in. The rethrohalation was spicy and tickled the nose quite thoroughly, the shades were reminiscent of white and black pepper. What was a little bit annoying was that I had to correct the cigar a bit on one side a few times. (but it was worth it considering the flavors it gave.
3/3 of Rocky Patel 1999 conneticut belicoso
I initially thought the cigar would keep the same flavor profile throughout, but when I got to the final third, the flavors changed a bit. The fruitiness from before receded a bit and was more in the background. The dominant flavors were now espresso, cacao beans, light leather and a general nuttiness.
After taste
The aftertaste was walnuts and quite dry.
Body
The body was in the upper part of medium
Smoke time
Approximately 50 minutes
Conclusion
A good cigar with prominent flavors. The body was on over the part of medium. A cigar that is worth trying if you have smoked a cigar for a while, otherwise the flavors can be a bit overwhelming.
