Once again I was shocked by the slow glow of the cigar, it almost felt like it was as much a signature of the cigars as the connection to horses themselves.
Construction
Stallone Alazan is named after the chestnut brown color of horses. If you compare the wrapper to the color of a horse, you can understand why.
The Alazan cigar was box-pressed in an unusually smooth manner. Usually one of the sides is very uneven or has sharper edges in box-pressed cigars, but this one was like it was cast in a mold and not made by hand.
The wrappee of Alazan had a silky smooth oily feeling to it.
Wrapper: Corojo Brazil – Binder: Ecuador – Filler: Nicaragua
Scent and cold draw
The scent i felt on the wrapper was hay while the filler had a scent of farmyard. The cold draw provided me with flavors of milkiness and nuts.
1/3 Lets light up the Stallone Alazan robusto
Right from the start there was no question that the cigar was a bit more robust with a full body. The texture was creamy with a slight dryness to it. Sweet Woodiness was without a doubt the most dominant flavor that emerged, you could say that it was complemented by nuances of general pepperiness, anise, leather, hay and earthiness. In the background you could glimpse lighter nuances of raisin-like sweetness and minerals. The retrohalation tickled the nose and gave nuances of pepperiness and hay. What was incredibly interesting was that the cigar had a light and airy draw even though I barely cut the top. It was as if a perfect air gap had been made in the cigar.
2/3 A lighter complexity emerges
The texture was as before creamy with a slight dryness. Although the woodiness retreated a little, it was still the dominant one. The taste of anise took up more space while the pepperiness retreated a little but was still present in the top. However, the taste of earthiness and leather was as before in the cigar. The taste of minerals from the early days came out more and was among the more dominant flavors and created a nice balance. In the background there were raisins, creaminess and a taste I can’t explain in words other than slightly salty meatiness. The retrohalation became smoother but still tickled my nose slightly and gave nuances of pepperiness and wood.
3/3 Stallone Alazan Corojo showed several new flavors
The texture was creamy with almost no dryness at all and the flavors that emerged were woodiness with a lighter shade of cedar, the woodiness was not dominant as before but merged more with the other flavors, anise, hay, leather, saltiness and earthiness. In the background were flavors of dried herbs, raisins, the meatiness from earlier and dark chocolate. The retrohalation became smoother and gave shades of pepperiness and hay.
After taste
General woodiness
Body
Full
Smoke time
The cigar can be smoked surprisingly slowly: 80 minutes.
Conclusion
Stallone Alazan Corojo Robusto is a complex cigar with prominent shades of wood in the first two thirds. In each third there is something new to pick up and you never get bored. The body that is on full makes it suitable for the more experienced Aficionados who like robust cigars. If I compare price vs taste vs quality I think it is cheap compared to what you get. I have smoked cigars in the double price class that do not give the same experience in either complexity or quality.
