Construction
Lets start our review of the El Septimo Paris with the construction. This cigar was as all the other El Septimo cigars i previously have reviewed, nothing Els but perfectly constructed. The El Septimo Paris was firmly rolled with out any veins, soft spots or hard lumps and hand a sticky oily feeling to it.
Band impression
I had previously interviewed Zaya Younan about his life’s journey and El Septimo cigars, the name El Septimo Paris reminded me of parts of his life journey. A powerful journey that many can learn from. Read the article here: Interview: The story of Zaya Younan and El Septimo. A living proof that anything is possible
Size of El Septimo Paris
The El Septimo Paris had a 54 ring gauge with a length of 5 inches. (Approximate 21mm ring gauge x 130mm length)
Blend
Unfortunately I couldn’t find any information on the blend of the El Septimo Paris cigar
Scent and cold draw
The scent I felt from the wrapper was sweet chocolatey nuances with a hint of florality. The filler had a scent of florality and hay. The flavors from the cold draw the El Septimo Paris offered were floral notes, cedar wood and light fruity nuttiness. The cold draw worked almost as a appetizer you could enjoy long before lighting the cigar.
1/3 Let’s light up El Septimo Paris
The first thing the cigar showed me was a creamy yet buttery texture. The kind of texture that doesn’t get you craving for water, A texture that leaves your pallate satisfied. The dominant flavors the El Septimo Paris offered were a nuttiness reminiscent of a mix of cashews and hazelnuts, sweet leather (the kind you can smell on a leather jacket), fruitiness, hay and ceder wood. In the background complementing the dominant flavors were nuances of ground coffee beans, florality and saltiness. The retrohale was smooth and I felt nuances of ceder wood.
The first third of the El Septimo Paris cigar started of smooth and slowly almost like a warmup for the palette.
2/3 The El Septimo Paris showed a deep complexity
As I entered the second third of El Septimos Paris the cigar showed a new side, it was almost like smoking a completely new cigar. The flavors started to change and you could only enjoy the ride.
The texture was creamy with out the buttery feeling from the first third. The flavors the cigar presented were florality, roasted nuts with a faint hint of hazelnuts, hay, creamy espresso and saltiness. In the background I could feel nuances of a fruity sweetness, raisins, leather, general spiciness and cinnamon. The retrohale was smooth as in the first third and offered shade of hay and wood.
3/3 Let’s see how El Septimo Paris finishes
I wasn’t particularly prepared to feel some of the flavors I felt in the last third.
The texture i felt in the last third of El Septimo Paris was creamy and rich, it was some how more mouth filling then the other two third. The dominant flavors I felt from the cigar were wood, leather, hay, roasted nuts with surprisingly hints of cashews, general spiciness, cinnamon and a flavor that surprised me, I can’t described the flavor in any other way then green Paprika, fresh sweet and vegetable like. In the background I could feel lighter nuances of general sweetness, creamy coffee latte, wood, dried herbs, raisins and florality. The retrohale was still smooth and I felt woody nuances and white pepper.
Nub
To be honest I thought the last third would end the flavor journey but the El Septimo Paris surprised me with one last part. Even though it was in the last five or six puffs it ended the smoking sessions in a incredibly interesting way.
The texture was creamy and rich as in the last third and the flavors I was offered were hickory, dark chocolate, wood, fruitiness and saltiness.
After taste
The aftertaste provided me with flavors of wood, chocolate and walnuts.
Smoke time
It took about 75 minutes to smoke the El Septimo Paris.
Draw
The draw was relaxing, neither to Thight or to loose.
Burn quality
The glow line was even from lighting until it was time to put down the cigar.
Body of El Septimo Paris
The El Septimo Paris is a medium bodied cigar.
Price of the cigar
The average price for the El Septimo Paris is between 18-20 USD
Conclusion
The El Septimo Paris is a complex cigar with a unique flavor profile. From lighting to the nub the flavors constantly change and even gives a unique flavor that stands ut extra from the crowd of cigars. The cigar has a medium body that is suited for most cigar smokers. If I compare price vs taste vs quality I think its low In price.
