It is not the most complex cigar but incredibly pleasant to smoke.
Construction
The feeling I got when I held the Gatekeeper cigar was that it depicted an ancient mythological guardian of a Roman treasure.
The Gate keeper was firmly rolled and had a lighter oily feeling.
Wrapper: Ecuador – Binder: Nicaragua – Filler: Nicaragua and Dominican
Scent and cold draw
The scent was almost non-existent and the scent I smelled that is worth mentioning was the filler’s farm yard scent.
The cold draw presented a flavor combination of hay and maltiness.
1/2Lets light up the Alec Bradley Gate keeper toro
After lighting Alec Bradley’s Gatekeeper Toro I was greeted with a creamy texture with a slight dryness. The flavors presented were General pepperiness, woodiness, cacao and leather. In the background were flavors of minerals, florality and honey-like sweetness. The retrohalation was smooth and complemented all the flavors with general woodiness.
2/2 A minor complexity emerged
The texture of the cigar was almost as creamy as before, although the dryness took up a little more space. The flavors I felt in the cigar were Leather, a little darker woodiness towards oak, cacao and espresso mixed with ground coffee beans. In the background there were nuances of Florality, herbs, minerals and a sweetness that reminded of a combination of honey and syrup. The retrohalation was as before smooth and gave woody nuances.
After taste
Wood and walnut
Body
Full
Smoke time
75 minutes
Conclusion
Alec Bradley Gatekeeper is a cigar with lighter complexity. The flavors are more robust and earthy. Full body makes it suitable for the more experienced Aficionados. If I compare price vs taste vs quality I think it is where it should be.
