Balmoral Puro Nicaragua Rothschild Masivo cigar review

Conctrustion

The Balmoral Puro Nicaragua Rothschild Masivo cigar was firm and evenly rolled, almost straight as a wall. The wrapper had an oily feel to it. The band around the cigar gave an impression of stability, a bit like it would be the foundation of a house.

Wrapper: Nicaragua – Binder: Nicaragua – Filler: Nicaragua

Smell and cold draw

The aroma and cold draft made the cigar work as a dessert before it was lit. A cigar you can take a few puffs on during the day before its time to light it. The wrapper of the Balmoral cigar had a lovely sweet scent of milk chocolate and hay while the binder smelled of hay. The cold draft gave nuances of milk chocolate and hay.

1/3 Lets light Balmoral Puro Nicaragua Rothschild Masivo cigar

The first thing that greeted me after I lit the Balmoral Puro Nicaragua Rothschild Masivo cigar was a lovely creamy and at the same time buttery texture. The texture meant that the cigar did not feel dry on the palette. The flavors the cigar gave were hay, dark roasted coffee beans, fruitiness, minerals and nuttiness. In the background were shades of salty licorice and prosciutto ham. The retrohalation was smooth and gave nuances of white pepper.

2/3 The Puro Nicaragua Rothschild masivo cigar shows a lighter complexity

As I stepped into the second third of the cigar, the texture changed a bit. The butteriness from before was gone, while the creaminess was as before. The fruitiness from before came forward more, general nuttiness, espresso, salty licorice that was previously in the background came forward as a dominant taste, oak and breadiness. In the background was a shade of dark chocolate. The retrohalation was as before smooth and gave nuances of white pepper.

3/3 Let`s see how the cigar finishes

As I stepped into the last third of the cigar, the texture changed a bit again. The texture was creamy with a slight dryness that made it good to have a glass of water nearby. The flavors the cigar imparted were a most easily described as blend of hay and oak, salty licorice, dark chocolate, a general fruitiness with hints of dark berries, a nuttiness reminiscent of burnt almonds, and a breadiness that I can’t describe in any other way then sourdough bread . In the background were shades of classic tobacco. The retrohalation was still smooth and gave a flavor mixture of white pepper and black pepper.

After taste

Walenuts and dark chocolate

Body

Medium bordering on full

Smoke time

65 minutes

Conclusion

The Balmoral Puro Nicaragua Rothschild Masivo cigar is well balanced without any flavors that stand out too much. The body makes it suitable for slightly more experienced aficionados. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think it is where it should be.
