La Aurora ADN Dominicano robusto cigar review

An incredibly well-balanced cigar that can be smoked surprisingly slowly.

Construction

I loved the feeling I got from the band. In a way, I could imagine sitting and enjoying the sunset on the savannah and watching elephants slowly pass by. A relaxing and calming feeling.

The cigar was flawless with out any veins and had a lighter oily feeling that wrapped around the it like a silky blankett.

Wrapper: Dominican – Binder: Cameroon – Filler: Dominican, Nicaragua and USA.

Scent and cold draw

Both the wrapper and the filler had a scent of hay while the cold draw brought flavors of maltiness.

1/3 Lets light up the cigar and see what it has to offer

The texture was slightly creamy, but not as creamy as I had expected. It was more like it gilded with a light presence. The dominant flavors I felt were Grass, Hay, Woodiness, Saltiness, Nuttiness in the sweet almond direction and general pepperiness with a hint of cayenne pepper. The flavors in the background lifted the cigar in a good way. The flavors i felt were nougat chocolate, fir needles, Honey-like sweetness and carbonation. The retrohalation tickled my nose and gave nuances of spiciness.

2/3 A smooth complexity emerged from the cigar

As I got into the second third of the La Aurora ADN Dominicano cigar, the texture was as before, slightly creamy. The dominant flavors did not change much, it was more the flavors that were in the background that showed the complexity of the cigar. The pepperiness from earlier had receded and had almost completely disappeared. The flavors I felt were Woodiness, nutmeg, fir needles, almond, salty, hay and grass. In the background there was a new flavor reminiscent of espresso that balanced everything out incredibly well. In addition to the espresso flavor there were nuances of honey-like sweetness, florality and nougat chocolate. The chocolate flavor was a little more prominent than before but not to the level that it ends up among the dominant nuances. The rehrohale became a little smoother which was incredibly nice. The nuances it offered were general woodiness.

3/3 Lets see how the cigar finishes

The last third of the cigar offered a rich, lovely show. It was a bit like it had built up an expectation and ended with an incredible experience. The texture grew and became really creamy and the dominant flavors I felt were general nuttiness with a hint of pistachio nuts, hay, general woodiness with a hint of cedar, anise, leather and earthiness. The flavors in the background became fewer than before while the dominant ones had grown more dominant. The flavors I felt in the background were espresso with brown sugar and a light honey-like sweetness. It was the sweetness that made the earthy flavors of leather and earth not become too overwhelming as they sometimes can be. The retrohalation was incredibly smooth and gave nuances of general woodiness.

Smoke time

La Aurora ADN smoked surprisingly slowly without affecting the taste in any way or being close to going out. 85 minutes

Conclusion

La Aurora ADN robusto is an incredibly well-balanced and complex cigar. The flavor shifts are smooth and you almost never know what to expect. The body, which is on the medium side, is soft to the point that it almost suits even the aficionados who prefer mild cigars. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think it is a bit low in price and you get a little more than what you pay for.
