Fort Worth smokes differently from Dallas. The rooms here are older, smaller and shop-led — a proper humidor with a few leather chairs behind it, rather than a bar with cigars attached. The densest stretch is Camp Bowie Boulevard, with a second cluster downtown near Sundance Square and a third out east along Lancaster. Prices run noticeably lower than on the Dallas side, and several of the best rooms are owner-run.

FAQ

Can you smoke cigars indoors in Fort Worth?

Yes. Texas has no statewide smoking ban, and Fort Worth’s ordinance exempts tobacco retailers and cigar bars. Arlington, Bedford, Keller and the other Tarrant County suburbs apply their own rules, but all of them carve out businesses whose main trade is tobacco. Venues attached to restaurants are the usual exception and may restrict smoking to a patio.

What is a cutting fee, and should you expect to pay one?

A cutting fee is what a lounge charges to let you smoke a cigar you did not buy there. It usually runs from five to twenty dollars and covers the seat, the ashtray and the ventilation you are using. Fort Worth rooms are generally more relaxed about this than the Dallas side, and several shops here simply ask that you buy something from the humidor instead. Ask when you arrive rather than at checkout.

How much should you tip at a cigar lounge?

If someone walks you through the humidor, cuts and lights for you, or brings drinks, tip as you would in a bar: fifteen to twenty per cent, or a few dollars for a quick over-the-counter purchase. No tip is expected if you simply buy and leave. Regulars who tip well tend to get first call on limited releases.

Do you have to be 21 to enter a cigar lounge in Texas?

Yes. The legal age to buy or possess tobacco in Texas is 21, and lounges card at the door. A narrow military exemption exists in state law, but venues apply it inconsistently, so bring identification regardless.

Where are the cigar lounges concentrated in Fort Worth?

Three areas. Camp Bowie Boulevard has the highest density, with several shops along a short stretch. Downtown around Sundance Square has the largest rooms and the latest hours. East Fort Worth along Lancaster has the long-established, community-focused shops. Arlington and the Mid-Cities form a fourth cluster east of the city.
