Updated August 2026 · 72 lounges and tobacconists · Compiled by Peter Stefanic, Certified Cigar Sommelier (IACS)
Los Angeles is too big to have a cigar district, so it has a dozen of them. Beverly Hills and the Sunset Strip hold the private clubs and the celebrity rooms. Ventura Boulevard through the San Fernando Valley has more lounges along one street than most American cities have in total. The South Bay, Long Beach and Inglewood each have their own scene, and the Westside sits somewhere between them all.
This page covers the whole county, from Santa Clarita down to Long Beach and east to Pomona. Every entry is marked Lounge, Shop, or both, so you know before you drive whether you can sit down and smoke or you are buying and leaving.
Featured listing — this space is available. A featured listing puts your lounge at the top of this page, above every other lounge in Los Angeles, and includes a photograph, a full description instead of a single line, a direct link to your website and Instagram, and placement above all standard listings. Common questions about cigar lounges in Los Angeles
Yes, but only in specific venues. California bans smoking in enclosed workplaces, and the exemptions that matter here are for stand-alone retail tobacco shops and for private smokers’ lounges. That is why almost every Los Angeles cigar room is either a shop with seating attached or a membership club. A bar or restaurant cannot simply add a cigar area.
Ventura Boulevard through the San Fernando Valley, without much competition. Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana and Woodland Hills have more cigar rooms along one road than most US cities have in total, and prices there are lower than on the Westside. The second cluster is Beverly Hills and the Sunset Strip, which is where the private clubs and the most expensive rooms are.
Sometimes. A cigar venue holding a liquor licence is rare in California because of how the smoking exemptions work, so many rooms are bring-your-own — often with a liquor store nearby — while the members’ clubs and the handful of licensed bars do serve. Where a venue serves, outside drinks are not permitted.
Where there is bar service, tip as you would anywhere: fifteen to twenty per cent. At a shop counter, a few dollars is right if someone has guided you through the humidor and cut for you. In a room where you have taken a chair for the afternoon without buying drinks, tipping is what keeps you welcome.
Yes. California set the tobacco purchase age at 21 and venues card at the door. Bring identification.
Yes, noticeably. California applies a high tobacco excise tax on top of the federal one, so the same cigar can cost considerably more here than in Texas or Florida. Valley and South Bay shops are generally cheaper than Beverly Hills and the Westside.
Before you go: opening hours, prices and policies change, and businesses close without notice. Check the venue’s own website or call ahead before travelling. Listings here are compiled from public business records and are provided for guidance only.
