Cigar Lounges & Shops in Seattle

Updated August 2026 · 48 lounges and tobacconists · Compiled by Peter Stefanic, Certified Cigar Sommelier (IACS)

Washington has the strictest smoking law of any state in this guide, and it is worth understanding before you plan an evening. Initiative 901 banned smoking in all public places and workplaces with no exemption at all for cigar bars or tobacco shops, and it added a rule that you cannot smoke within twenty-five feet of any door, window or vent.

That single sentence explains the entire Seattle cigar scene. There are no public cigar lounges in Washington. What exists instead are private membership clubs, which the law does permit, and venues on tribal land, where state law does not apply. Everything else is a shop that sells you cigars to take away.

Every venue here is a cigar business first — a lounge, a private club or a tobacconist with a real humidor. General smoke and vape shops are left out.

FAQ

Can you smoke cigars indoors in Seattle?

Not in a public venue. Washington’s Initiative 901 banned smoking in all public places and workplaces, and unlike Texas, Florida or Michigan it created no exemption for cigar bars or tobacco shops. It also prohibits smoking within twenty-five feet of any door, window or ventilation intake. This is the strictest arrangement of any state in this guide.

So where can you actually smoke a cigar around Seattle?

Two places. Private membership clubs, which the law permits because they are not public accommodations — Seattle has several, and most admit guests of members. And venues on tribal land, where state law does not apply: there are several of these around Puget Sound, and they operate as full cigar lounges with bars, kitchens and indoor seating, exactly as they would in any other state.

How do the private cigar clubs work?

Each sets its own terms. Typically an annual or monthly membership buys you access, a locker for your own cigars and, at some, 24-hour entry. Most welcome guests brought by a member, and several run open events. If you are visiting the city, the practical route is to call ahead and ask — the clubs here are used to enquiries from travellers and are generally accommodating.

Do you have to be 21 to buy cigars in Washington?

Yes. Washington set the tobacco purchase age at 21 and shops card at the door. Bring identification.
