An incredibly delicious cigar without complexity. The cigar is well suited for those who are curious about full-bodied cigars but don’t have the palette for it yet.
Construction
The cigar was firm and evenly rolled with a closed foot and pigs tail that enhanced the feel. There was a light oiliness that wrapped around the cigar like a blanket.
Wrapper: Ecuador – Binder: Dominican – Filler: Dominican
Scent and cold draw
The cigar had a lovely aroma of chocolate and nuttiness while the cold draw gave flavors of nuttiness and chocolate.
Lets light up the PDR 1878 Capa Oscura Robusto to see what it has to offer
The flavors I felt at the beginning were the same until the end. It was more like they were competing to be the most dominant. The texture of the PDR 1878 Capa Oscura Robusto cigar was creamy and the dominant flavors I felt were sweet earthiness, cedar woodiness, herbs, florals, chocolate and a general sweetness. In the background were hints of citrus peel, citrus-like acidity and a light saltiness. The retrohalation was smooth with hints of woodiness, florals and a lighter vanilla bean nuance.
After taste
Walnuts and chocolate
Body
Medium bordering on full
Smoke time
65 minutes
Conclusion
PDR 1878 Capa Oscura Robusto is a well-balanced cigar without much complexity. What is a little interesting about the cigar is that even though the body is medium almost full, it is suitable for those with a little less experience. You could say that it is suitable for the cigar smoker who wants to try a full body but does not have the palette for it yet. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think it is where it should be. I would consider paying a little more for it.
