Cigars sense of smell and taste. Train for fruit flawors in a cigar

Sense of taste training for fruits

I love to train the taste buds to find the fruity nuances in a cigar, I don’t really train them for the fruitiness of a cigar but for the sake of health. The only thing I really do for the cigars is replace the fruits or redo the fruit salad a little and focus a little extra on the flavors. Its a win win situation.

How often do you not hear fruity notes in a cigar description? Quite often I would say. A cigar with fruity notes is also often described as having a certain sweetness. But how do you train the taste buds to find the fruitiness in a cigar? I would like to say that it is as simple as just eating more fruit, in a way it is but at the same time it is not.

Let’s begin

Fruits

If you want to eat fruit for more than for your health, to train your taste buds to find the fruity nuances in a cigar more easily, there are a few small things to consider.

It is important to remember that the
fruitiness in a cigar is rarely the single fruit but usually has a small sweet taste that often reminds of fruit salad with in some cases some fruit that dominates and stands out a little, I would say. When we mention fruitiness in a cigar, we usually describe sweet fruits more than sour fruits such as citrus, some apples and pineapples for example. Although citrus nuances are present in some cigars. We will go into citrus separately at the

Making a balanced fruit salad will make it easier to train the taste buds and will taste all the better. Here is a list of fruits that I use as a base and which in combination helps to find the fruitiness in an easier way in a cigar.

1. Ripe green pears.
2. Honeydew melon
3. Green apples
4. Cherries
5. Green grapes
6. Banana.

If we take pears and melons as the basis of the fruit salad, we increase the sweetness and have two fruits that harmonize with each other. Remember that the pears must be ripe and juicy to avoid acidity. I would have that part about 50% of the whole. If you add green sour apples, we begin to balance out the sweetness while adding a little sourness. It should only be a small part of the whole so that the flavor does not take over and dominate. The acidity can easily take over. If we add semi-sweet cherries, we give a little more sweet acidity and also add a little bit of bitterness to the mixture. It brings a bit more dark berry fruitiness and helps to balance the sweetness. If we add grapes to everything, we increase the sweetness a bit while also adding a touch of bitterness that may be present in the skin of the grape. I would probably like to say that ripe bananas are one of the most important ingredients in the fruit salad. Although it adds a little bit of sweetness, it is hidden a bit in the creaminess, I think the creaminess is a bit reminiscent of that found in a cigar with thick smoke and a creamy texture. The banana will balance all the flavors into a whole and help that none of the flavors become too dominant.

While making the fruit salad take a small piece of each fruit, that way you train the taste buds to recognize dominant fruits more easily and that particular fruit.

The taste buds in the mouth and the sense of smell work actively together. By retrohaling in the same way as you do with cigars, you let the sense of smell feel the nuances of the fruits. Let the fruit remain in your mouth before swallowing as you retrohale to bring all the flavors to your nose.

Berries

Training the taste buds for berries is not as important as it is with other fruits in terms of taste, but it usually adds a different strength to the taste buds. The acidity in berries can be a bit reminiscent of that which can sometimes be found in the background of a cigar. Most often, when a cigar is described as having a berry flavor, its a mixture of dark berries. A bit like a fruit salad with berries. It often gives a lighter sourness and slight sweetness with a slightly slightly bitter undertone. The taste most often described if you pick up a specific berry is dark cherry.

Training the taste buds for berries is quite simple. The most important thing is to do as before, that before swallowing the berries, retrohale as with cigars to allow all parts of the taste buds to be trained and find nuances.
We will keep it simple considering that the general berry flavors do not appear too often in a cigar. The most important berry is cherry. Take cherries as the base for around 40% of the berry salad and mix the rest with different dark berries. When you make a berry mix, taste the berries individually to feel all the nuances.

Try using the advice as a base and change the fruits a little from time to time to train the taste buds more.

The important thing in the whole with training your taste buds is to stop and feel the flavors in the same way as with a cigar. Not just chewing them down but letting every part of the mouth feel the flavor nuances. If you do this a few times a month, you will train your memory to recognize the flavors more easily and eventually the taste buds will automatically start looking for those fruity flavors in a cigar. The taste buds have an easier time finding and recognizing flavors it is used to.
