Ashton Cabinet Selection No 6 cigar

Ashton is truly in a class of its own. Doesn’t matter how many times i smoke the cigar, there is never anything wrong with the cigar and always perfect taste.

Conctruction

I picked up the Ashton Cabinet cigar to do a closer inspection as usual. The first thing I was greeted with was that the wrapper was slightly oily with a wonderful premium feel. The seams were tight and the tobacco evenly distributed, There were no unevenness and it was equally firm throughout the cigar. There was a small vein sticking out but nothing that I was worried would give an uneven glow line. I didn’t find any major veins under the wrapper that would interfere with the glow. The cape was perfectly rounded.

Taste

The cold draw of the Ashton cabinet cigar offered flavors of sweet dark chocolate and hay. A good start that I enjoyed.

Let me start with the texture. The cigar had an incredibly lovely texture that I can’t describe in any other way than a combination of buttery and creamy. The texture had an impact on how the flavors were experienced in a way that is usually quite unique. The first flavors I found shades of hay in a combination with sweetness that made me think of vanilla sugar. Sometimes it felt like I tasted shades of butterscotch. I think the actual buttery, creamy texture, and the vanilla sugar-like sweetness made me feel butterscotch flavors at times. As I got a bit down into the first third of the cigar, hints of fruitiness started to come into the background. The fruitiness itself made the sweetness from earlier in the cigar start to resemble more of the sweetness found in honeydew melon. That is to say, the sweetness that came had an incredibly small bitterness that balanced out the cigar. Between the puffs there was an aftertaste of coffee and leather. As I neared the end of the first third, the cigar began to change its character a bit. The flavors coming into the background were reminiscent of sweet licorice and the crust of freshly baked stone oven bread.

The texture is now more creamy than at the beginning, the butteriness has receded and is in the background.
The taste of freshly baked sweet stone oven bread dominates and gives a nice change, a mixture of sweet oak and cedar comes from time to time on retrohaling. The aftertaste has become stronger leather and and the coffee goes in the direction of espresso.

The creamy texture remains.
The dominant flavor is now oak and espresso. I also found some flavor reminiscent of leather with an elegant sweetness. In the background you also find a slight floral hint that finished the cigar in a great way.

Aftertaste

The aftertaste was walnut with a dry texture.

Smoke time

The Ashton Cabinet Selection No.6 cigar gave me about 60 minutes of enjoyment.

It’s a cigar I always want in my Humidor. The balance of flavours, the texture and how smooth the cigar was makes it suitable for any occasion.
