It doesn’t matter what it is, it’s the thought that counts when it comes to gifts. But if you know how to choose a cigar gift, then it puts a golden edge on the gift and it will be even more appreciated. Here are some tips on how to choose cigars as a gift.
For the beginner.
Lets start with a gift for someone who has recently started smoking cigars. The probability that the person has tried a large range of cigars is quite small and that they smoke mild to medium bodied cigars. Instead of going for a slightly more expensive cigar, I would choose slightly cheaper cigars and go for variety. In this way, the person will have the opportunity to develop their taste buds, perhaps find a new favorite, and with the quantity, the gift will look bigger and more luxurious. When I talk about variety, I think of some light body, medium, and the occasional full body cigar. The cigars may be from different countries, to give the flavor profiles completely different flavor nuances. How many you should buy is a bit dependent on your budget. Already at 5 cigars, the package will look luxurious and won’t cost too much. Let’s take as an example what a package might look like, 2 light body, 2 medium and one full body cigar. If you don’t know which cigars to buy, go to a cigar store or email them them and ask them to put together a package for you. They will probably be more than happy to help you.
For the die-hard cigar enthusiast.
When buying a gift for the avid cigar enthusiast, there are many different paths you can take. He/she most likely knows that he/she has explored some cigars and knows what flavor profile they like, what size of cigars they prefer, etc. You can play a little dumb and ask for tips, most of the time the person will most likely be talking about cigars they prefer. When buying a cigar for the die-hard cigar enthusiast, quantity is not the important thing and one cigar can bring more joy than 10 pieces. A limited edition may be in order or a slightly more expensive cigar premium stick that they normally wouldn’t treat yourself.
