Ibis Honduras robusto review

Construction

Some times you just get amazed. When i held The Ibis Honduras robusto in my hand was one of those moments. Price is not always associated with quality but many times it is reflected the construction of a cigar. The Ibis Honduras is one of the best cigars I have held in my hand when it comes to construction. The cigar was Sumeric in a way, you should think it was cast in a mold and not rolled by hand. Incredibly impressive I must say – especially considering the low price. It was incredibly firm and had neither soft parts, plugs nor veins.

Band impression

The green band with a bird in the center of it, gave a impression of everyday cigar.  I could imagine my self taking a walk in the forest or sitting on a bench near the sea, light the cigar and just let time pass by.

Size of Ibis Honduras robusto

The Ibis Honduras we reviwed was a vitola Robusto.

Ring gauge/ Length 50×5 (approximately 20mm x 127mm)

Blend

The Ibis Honduras robusto had exclusively tobacco from Honduras.

Wrapper: Honduras – Binder: Honduras – Filler: Honduras

Scent

The wrapper of the Ibis Honduras robusto had a scent of general sweetness, hay and farmyard while the filler had a scent of hay.

Cold draw

The flavor from the cold draw presented shades of maltiness.

Lets light up the Ibis Honduras robusto

After I lit the cigar I was presented with a soft, light creamy texture with a hint of butter. The first flavors i felt from Ibis Honduras robusto were Leather, general sweetness, coffee, cream, woody, earthiness and dark berries. In the background to lift the dominant flavors from the cigar were shades of salt, minerals, general spices, anise and herbs. The retrohale was smooth and i felt nuances of hay.

Ibis Honduras robusto had minor flavor changes throughout the smoking process but not enough to be noticeable. Some flavors like coffee became more robust and wood became more prominent and darker for example.

After taste

The aftertaste of Ibis Honduras didn’t last long and gave me a taste of walnuts.

Draw

The draw of the cigar was neither loose nor thin from the beginning. Towards the middle of the last third you could feel how the draw of the Ibis Honduras started to get tighter to the point where it started to become a little annoying. Luckily, it was only towards the end of the cigar and it didn’t ruin the overall experience.

Burn quality

The glow line of the cigar was impressive and there was no doubt that the people who rolled the cigar were masters of their craft. It glowed almost better and more evenly than many premium cigars.

Body

Medium

Smoke time

I had read that the cigar takes about 45-50 minutes to smoke. It took 60 minutes to smoke the Ibis Honduras robusto without there being even the slightest risk of the cigar showing any hint of going out.

Price Ibis Honduras Robusto

The price for the Ibis Honduras robusto is approximately about $3.80-$4.00 USD

Conclusion

Ibis Honduras robusto is a cigar with medium body. The medium body makes it suitable for most cigar smokers. It’s not particularly complex and the flavors you feel are the same  from start to finish. The construction of the cigar is flawless, it’s better made then many premium cigars. The Ibis Honduras is a great everyday cigar for days you dont want to much complexity. But if your looking for a complex flavor bomb, its not a cigar suited for you. If i compare price vs taste vs quality I think you get a lot of cigar for the money.
