I was impressed. Although I had expected a lot from the cigar, I got more than I thought. A lovely cigar with lovely complexity.
Construction
The feeling I got from the band was incredible. It felt a bit royal, like you were at the coronation of a new king or queen. In a way, the band showed that less is more, not too many pictures or art, but combining the gold and blue color in a simple pattern gave a special royal elegance.
The cigar was incredibly firm and evenly rolled. The wrapper had an incredibly oily feel to it.
Wrapper: Ecuador – Binder: Mexico – Filler: Dominican
Smell and cold draw
The scent I smelled in the wrapper was hay while the filler smelled of woodiness, dark chocolate and hay. The cold draft gave me a lovely mix of sweet fruitiness, nuttiness and hay.
1/4 Let us light up the Eladio Diaz 70 Aniversario cigar to see what it has to offer.
The texture was airy and slightly creamy. The dominant flavors I felt were fruitiness, nuttiness, raisins, bourbon, cedar and general sweetness. In the background there were shades of chocolate, saltiness, hay and floweriness. The retrohale was smooth and gave nuances of black pepper and cedar.
2/4 The cigar grows in the flavors
As I entered the second quarter of the Eladio Diaz 70 Aniversario, it showed a lighter complexity. The texture was still airy with the creaminess picking up a bit. The flavors I felt were sweet licorice, fruitiness with a honeydew melon like sweetness, nuttiness, floral flavors, hay and raisins. In the background there were flavors of cacao mixed with milk chocolate, carbonation, dates, bourbon and saltiness. The retrohale was smooth and gave off hints of cedar and a nuttiness reminiscent of macadamia nuts.
3/4 Lets enjoy the cigars complexity
As I entered the third third, the Eladio Diaz 70 Aniversario showed more nuanced changes in the flavors. The texture became creamier and the flavors it gave were sweet licorice, oak mixed with cedar, fruitiness that went cherry, nuttiness, saltiness that made me think of Prosciutto, sweet floral, dates and honeydew like sweetness. In the background there were shades of carbonation, leather and milk chocolate. The retrohalation was smooth and gave nuances of hay and hickory.
4/4 Let’s see how the Eladio Diaz 70 Aniversario cigar ends
The texture of the cigar was creamy. The flavors it gave were a sweetness reminiscent of a combination of vanilla and honey, sweet florals reminiscent of cherry blossoms, toffee caramel, fruitiness that went in the direction of cherries, raisins and dates mixed, leather, hay, licorice, cacao and nuttiness. In the background were shades of espresso, milk chocolate and bourbon. The retrohalation was smooth and gave nuances of hay and dark chocolate.
After taste
The aftertaste of the cigar was a combination of general nuttiness, walnuts and dark chocolate.
Body
Medium
Smoke time
100 minutes
Conclusion
The cigar had a lovely complexity and could be divided into 4 parts. The body was medium and suits most aficionados. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think you get a lot of cigar for the money. There are many that are twice as expensive and do not offer the same experience. A premium cigar that gave more than I paid for.
