When you hear Tony Barrios speak, the man behind Stallone Cigars, you don’t just hear the story of a cigar brand. You hear the story of a dreamer. A man who refused to let life keep him caged, and instead chose to fly freely like a bird toward his dreams.
From his childhood days in Venezuela, where his grandfather taught him that “a bird should not be kept in a cage – it should fly freely,” to the moment he left a stable career behind to chase his true calling, Tony’s journey is one of passion, courage, and freedom. Every cigar he creates carries that same spirit, a reminder that greatness is born when you dare to follow your dreams.
In a world that often tells us to play it safe, Tony chose the opposite. He chose risk over comfort. He poured his heart into the black tobacco soil, the leaves, and the craftsmanship, knowing that true fulfillment doesn’t come from certainty, but from pursuing what your dreamd say.
These are Tony’s best advice for following your dreams.
“A dream is a seed planted in your heart, if it is deep enough, you have to follow what your brain tells you, even if it says it is wrong. Many times, society will tell you that things are wrong because you are going against the grain. To follow your dreams, you need passion, a vision, courage and give 100% of your energy. You have to learn to filter out other people’s advice, filter the negative from the positive advice. There will always be people who want you to fail to raise themselves. Around 90% of everyone around you will not be happy with you. No matter how many steps you have to take and how small or big they are, you have to take them to get closer to your goal. When you follow your dreams, there will be storms you have to get through, it will not be easy but at the end of the day worth it. I followed my dreams. I had a good time growing bright tobacco but I put everything into my dream of cigars despite what everyone around me said. They said it was impossible and worthless. But I still chose to put everything into my dream and in the end I succeeded. Today, despite what everyone thought, I sell in over 17 countries from not selling my cigars in any country at all. What was hard was that the friends I thought I had closest to me in the industry and never thought would stab me in the back did. Their fear of competition showed, instead of us helping each other. But I chose to fight on for the dream anyway”
Tony’s story leaves us with something deeper than the aroma of a fine cigar — it leaves us with a reminder. A reminder that passion, when pursued with conviction, can turn even the smallest spark into a lifelong flame.
Tony Barrios didn’t build Stallone Cigars overnight. He built it with heart, patience, and an unshakable belief that dreams are meant to be lived, not postponed. Every cigar that bears his name carries that same message: freedom, integrity, and the courage to stay true to yourself.
We believe that’s what dreams are all about, not just making something exceptional, but living with purpose while doing it. Tony’s journey stands as proof that when you chase your dream with both hands, life rewards you with more than success, it rewards you with meaning.
So here’s to those who dare to dream, to create, to fly freely.
Because as Tony reminds us — a bird should never be kept in a cage.
