Construction
The cigar was firm and evenly rolled with a matte feel that wrapped around it. The pig tail was a wonderful detail that gave the cigar a lovely feel. The foot of the Gurkha cigar was almost closed and you could feel the flavors growing and the draw getting easier during the first 10 minutes.
Wrapper: Brazilian – Binder: Dominican – Filler: Dominican
Scent and cold draw
The cigar had a farmhouse aroma and general sweetness. The cold draft gave me flavors of hay and light fruitiness.
1/3 Lets light up the Gurkha Celler Reserve 15 year limitada maduro Solara robusto
The texture was full-bodied but at the same time slightly creamy. The dominant flavors I felt were leather, sweet licorice and dark chocolate combined with nougat chocolate. In the background there were flavors of espresso, woodiness, a berry fruitiness and a brown sugar-like sweetness. The retrohalation tickled my nose a little and gave nuances of woodiness, cayenne pepper and white pepper.
2/3 The cigar showed a lighter complexity
The texture was now just creamy and the flavors I felt were woodiness that leaned towards oak, hay, leather and a combination of sweet and salty licorice. In the background there were nuances of berry fruitiness, raisins and a sweetness that reminded of caramel and a honey-like mixture. The retrohalation tickled my nose slightly but was smoother than before and gave nuances of hay.
3/3 Lets see how the cigar ends
The texture of the cigar was creamy as in the second third and the flavors I felt were general fruitiness, nuttiness reminiscent of almond paste, brown sugar-like sweetness, leather and a woodiness reminiscent of oak. In the background were nuances of herbs, cacao and ground coffee beans. The retrohalation was smooth and gave woody nuances.
After taste
Walenuts and general woody
Body
Medium bordering on full
Smoke time
75 minutes
Conclusion
Gurkha Cellar Reserve 15 Year Limitada Maduro Solara Double Robusto is a cigar with well-balanced flavors and offers lighter complexity. You could say that the flavors flow and some come through from time to time. The body, which is medium on the verge of full, suits those a little more experienced aficionados. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think it is where it should be, maybe a little but only slightly on the high side.
