Gurkha Coleccion Especial Toro

Gurkha Coleccion Especial Toro

What an experience! The flavors flowed together and time flew by! A sensational cigar with an incredible blend!

Construction

As I held the cigar I felt an oiliness that screamed perfection and made me crave more to light the cigar. There was no remark on the construction and it was almost as straight as a wall. There were no large veins on the wrapper or felt behind that could reveal that the cigar would glow crookedly.

Wrapper: Hybrid connecticut – Binder: Mexican sumatra – Filler Seco Ligero Habano Conneticut broadleaf

Taste

I lifted the Gurkha Coleccion especial toro to my nose, the aroma was mild with sweet notes and it reminded me of hay with slightly fruity notes. When I got to the filler part, I was greeted by the same scent as before. The smells prepared me for the cold draft and if you can guess I was happy. The flavors were reminiscent of the aroma, fruitiness and hay. What I wasn’t quite prepared for was that there was an taste that made me take a few extra puffs before lighting the cigar. I can’t quite put my finger on the taste, but the easiest way to explain it is that it reminded me of citrus fruit.

1/3 Lets enjoy the first third of the Gurkha Coleccion especial toro cigar

I slowly roasted the cigar in the usual order. I was greeted by a slightly buttery and at the same time slightly creamy texture. The texture was light and not overwhelming at all. It was perfect for both beginners and the more experienced. In danced a perfect and by that I mean a perfect balance of flavors. No flavor that took up too much space or disappeared completely. There were hints of hay, light fruitiness with a nice sweetness, light citrus and to balance it all there were hints of peanuts with a slight saltiness. Far away in the background was a slight bitterness, A bitterness that was more than welcome and reminiscent of dark chocolate. There was one thing that shocked me, I mean shocked me and that I’m not sure if I’ve ever felt, it was that between the puffs there wasn’t the classic wood or nutty taste, between the puffs there was a smooth fruitiness. The fruitiness between puffs made me want to smoke faster to see if what I felt was right, but I stopped myself. But the taste was there. The rethrohale was silky smooth, slightly creamy and gave light flavors of cedar and a hint of white pepper.

2/3 The transition into the second third of the cigar was smooth and less noticeable than usual.

As time passed and I sat with the cigar, I barely noticed how the flavors slowly changed. The buttery texture that was there before disappeared and now the whole thing was creamy. The creaminess had increased but was not overwhelming at all. The transition between the thirds was so smooth that you barely noticed it at first. Usually when the tobacco is heated it causes the flavors to change quite a bit. At Gurkha colection especial they reminded of them before except that the main notes switched places with each other. The flavors became more prominent and the dominant flavor was now citrus. The citrus was joined by a light fruitiness, hay and slightly light flora in the background. The re-breathing was incredible. It was smooth with hints of hay, a light fruitiness and strangely a vanilla cream like sweetness.

3/3 A god end to the cigar

kjbWhen I got into the last third, the flavors changed a bit. The buttery texture had almost completely disappeared and was now creamy. The flavors I found were hints of cedar, nuttiness, a light fruitiness, floral flavors, a light bitterness reminiscent of dark chocolate and in the background sweet citrus. Towards the end of Gurkha Coleccion especial toro there was also a light maltiness. The retrohalation tickled the nose a bit and had light flavors of fruitiness and a slight hint of white pepper.

After taste

The aftertaste was reminiscent of oak and lingered for a short time.

Body

The body of the Gurkha Coleccion especial toro was mild bordering on medium. A body that suits both new and more experienced cigar smokers.

Smoke time

It took about 84 minutes to smoke the Gurkha Coleccion toro cigar.

Would I smoke the cigar again? Without a doubt and I can’t wait! The flavors had an incredibly good balance and they flowed together in an absolutely incredible way that is almost unique.
