Meerapfel Maestranza Baron review

Conctrustion

This was one of those rare moments when the construction was absolutely perfect but the cigar still turned out to have quite a few flaws. The Meerapfel Maestranza Baron was firm and smooth rolling with a thick oily feel to it. There were no veins, soft spots or hard lumps that would give away how the cigar would behave.

Band impression

The very band around the cigar gave me the feeling of an everyday cigar.

Size of Meerapfel Maestranza Baron

The size of Meerapfel Maestranza Baron was 5 1/2 x 42 (Length 140 mm x Ring Gauge 16.7 mm)

Blend

To make Meerapfel Maestranza Baron, a wrapper from Honduras, binder from Costa Rica and filler from Nicaragua were used.

Wrapper: Honduras – Binder: Costa Rica – Filler: Nicaragua

Scent and Cold draw

The wrapper of Meerapfel Maestranza Baron had a scent of chocolate and honey while the filler only smelled of hay. The cold draft was probably one of the tastiest cold drafts I have had the pleasure of tasting. The taste I felt was a combination of milk chocolate, oats and fruitiness.

Lets light up the Meerapfel Maestranza Baron

When I lit the Meerapfel Maestranza Baron I was a bit shocked, the draw was so tight that I thought it was rolled too tight. I felt the cigar again to see if I had missed anything, but to my disappointment nothing was felt or seen at the head, there was nothing I could do. I massaged the whole thing and used a cigar drill, but it wouldn’t let go. It was only when I got to the last third of the Meerapfel Maestranza Baron that the draw became easier. The Meerapfel Maestranza Baron gave off a creamy texture and the flavors I felt were white pepper without the classic peppery feeling, milkiness, general wood, sugar cane, bread and nuts. In the background there were nuances of fruitiness, nougat chocolate and citrus peel. The retrohalation was smooth and you could feel general woodiness.

After taste

The Meerapfel Maestranza Baron had the classic flavor of walenut.

Draw

The draw of the Meerapfel Maestranza Baron cigar was, as I described earlier, far too hard until the last third.

Burn quality

The cigar glowed quite unevenly until about the middle and I had to correct it quite a bit.

Body

The Meerapfel Maestranza Baron cigar had a medium body that bordered on full.

Smoke time

40 minutes

Price Meerapfel Maestranza Baron

The average price for the Meerapfel Maestranza Baron is between 12-15 USD. The cigar is a little more popular in Europe than in the USA.

Conclusion

Meerapfel Maestranza Baron is a well-balanced cigar with a medium body bordering on full. Although the body of Meerapfel Maestranza Baron is bordering on full, it is smooth to the point that it also suits newer cigar smokers. A good choice for those who want to try full-bodied cigars. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think it is a bit high in price considering the quality that I felt.
