A pony is small, but not when it comes to cigar terms. If you like powerful cigars, this cigar might be for you. It is not particularly complex and has earthy flavors.
Construction
The name The Pony does not suggest anything about the cigar’s profile or size. You think it should be mild and round, but in reality it delivers a power horse.
The Pony was firmly rolled with a lighter oily feeling to it.
Wrapper: Sumatra Ecuador – Binder: Nicaragua – Filler: Nicaragua and Connecticut Broadleaf leaf
Scent and cold draw
The wrapper had a lighter scent of florality with a hint of minerals while the filler had a scent of hay. The flavors the cold draw offered where maltiness, hay and a lighter shade of fruitiness.
1/2 Lets light up the Stallone Pony
It all started with a semi-dry texture with a slight creaminess. The cigar showed signs of strength and body right away. The body was medium on the border to full. The flavors I got from the cigar were hay, a lot of pepperiness, nuttiness and some kind of bitterness I can’t put into words, the easiest is that it reminded me of a combination of dark roasted coffee beans and incredibly dark chocolate. In the background there were flavors of minerals, anise and florality. Retrohalation was smooth and gave nuances of white pepper and hay.
2/2 The cigar became a little smoother
The texture became a little smoother but was still on the dry side. The flavors the cigar offered were wood that was the most dominant flavors followed by nuts, leather, cacao mixed with coffee beans and general pepperiness. In the background I felt flavors of minerals and florality. The retrohale was smooth as in the second half and gave shades of hay and white pepper.
After taste
Lighter walnut
Body
Medium bordering on full
Smoke time
75 minutes
Conclusion
Stallone Pony short gordo is a cigar that is more robust in its texture and flavors. The flavors are earthy and prominent. Although the body is medium on the verge of full, it is suitable for the slightly more seasoned smoker. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think it is where it should be.
