Some cigars just feel powerful before beeing lit, the Stauffenberg Edition 2 robusto is one of those cigars.
Construction
The Stauffenberg cigars Edition 2 robusto was extremely firm and evenly rolled with a faint oily feeling to it. There were no major veins, soft or hard parts that would indicate any burn issues.
Band impression
I don’t know if it was because I had previously read about the brand’s significance and interviewed Maik Neubauer (owner of Stauffenbergs cigars) or if it was the band itself, but when I looked at the Stauffenbergs cigar Edition 2 robusto I got a powerful feeling, a bit like I was holding a piece of world history in my hand. The red band had a text saying – the heritage of courage. A line that not only give you thoughts on the world wars that has been, but for all those brave people dressed in uniforms sacrificing their life’s so that you and me can have a better life and our kids a better future.
The brand was founded by Maik’s love of cigars and In Honour and Remembrance of the Courage of all Resistance Fighters in the 2nd World War. You can read more about Stauffenbergs cigars here: Interview with Maik Neubauer from Stauffenberg cigars. In honor of the heroes who sacrificed their lives.

1/3 Let’s light up Stauffenberg cigars Edition 2 robusto
It didn’t take long after I had lit the Stauffenberg cigars Edition 2 robusto for the cigar to show its full body. The texture was creamy and and extremely rich. The flavors the Stauffenberg Edition 2 cigar presented were nuttiness in the direction of cashews, hay, general pepperiness, freshly picked herbs, coffee and a honey-like sweetness. In the background I could feel lighter shades of licorice and leather. The retrohale slightly tickled my nose and brought with it shades of white pepper and wood.
2/3 The Stauffenberg cigar shows complexity
As I entered the second third of the Stauffenberg cigars Edition 2 robusto the texture was still creamy and rich as in the first third, the only real difference was that it left a slightly dry feeling on the palette. The dominant flavors the cigar offered me were hay, nuts reminiscent of cashews and chestnut, dried herbs and a sugar like sweetness. In the background I could feel lighter nuances of coffee, earthiness, general pepperiness and florality. The retrohale became smoother and I felt a lighter shade of wood.
The combination of cashews and chestnut was a combination that is rarely found in this prominent way and added somthing extra.
3/3 Let’s see how the Edition 2 cigar finishes
When i entered the last part of the Stauffenberg cigars Edition 2 robusto cigar somthing happened. The texture was creamy but not as rich as earlier and the dryness from the second third was still there but not as dry. There were no secondary flavors in the background, only the dominant flavors were to be felt. I didn’t mind that there were no secondary flavors, the flavors I felt rounded of the smoking sessions in a great way. The flavors I felt were wood, leather, general nuttiness, florality, ground coffee beans, hay and the classic tobacco flavor. The retrohale was still smooth and I felt nuances of wood and hay.
