The day had come and I finally had the chance to interview Daniel, the founder of cigarrspecialisten.se. What I think was interesting during our conversation was that we went from cigars to politics in our conversation, it felt more like talking to a friend than it would be an interview. An incredibly nice person.
How did Daniels interest in cigars begin?
Daniel’s journey into the cigar world could be said to have started by pure chance. To end an evening with friends, they headed to the western harbor in Malmö Sweden where Daniel was treated to a cigar. You could say that the rest is a bit of history and the passion grew immediately. The next day Daniel went to the local cigar shop and since then the passion has grown.
What is the story behind cigarrspecialisten and what is its success due to?
– Everything really started as a hobby that grew into a passion. Where I live there is no physical cigar shop and I bought my cigars on the internet. During my search for cigars, I felt that there was something missing in the market, the sites that were available online were not very fun to shop from. There were almost no fact sheets or much information about the cigars at all at that time. When you buy a cigar, you want to know more about the cigar you are going to buy, and in 2014 I decided to follow a dream and started my own cigar shop Cigarrspecialist. The store’s focus right from the start was to make it easier and more pleasant for the cigar smoker to buy cigars from with more information about the particular cigar they want to buy. Posting a cigar online for sale isn’t really a big deal if you don’t take pride in what you’re selling. We are proud of what we do and want to give our customers the best service possible. We want to know what we are selling and test each cigar to create a fair assessment and flavor profile of the cigars we sell. With that, we can give our customers the security they deserve and if they have questions, we can give them the right answers. Our tests mean that we are not the fastest to put new cigars online, but it gives our customers the security that we have done thorough tests on the cigars and can give an honest assessment of the flavors.

The more i spoke with Daniel, it became clear that starting cigarrspecialisten was a dream come true. What are Daniels best tips for thos who want to follow their dreams?
– To follow your dreams, you have to be a little naive and not think about all the obstacles that can come along the way. There will be obstacles and you have to be prepared to find solutions.
– Failing is not a disaster, most people are afraid of what others will think of them, while the only thing that matters is your own thoughts about yourself. Will you be happy with yourself if you don’t at least try to achieve your dreams? The worst that can happen is that you lose your investment and have to go back to a regular job again. But then you are one experience closer to your goal with more learning within you and can follow the dream again with more knowledge and better conditions to succeed. If you settle for not following your dreams, you will always remain in the same place, but if you follow your dreams, your possibilities are endless both in development as a person, lifestyle and financially (depending on what one’s dreams are), you shape your own life according to how you want it to be.
What are your best tips for someone new to cigars?
– Don’t be afraid to buy the “wrong” cigars, the more different cigars you try the easier it will be to find your preferred flavors and types of cigars.
– Learn the basics of cutting, lighting, smoking and storing cigars
– Take your time to smoke, even if a cigar takes an hour, set aside two to avoid stress and enjoy fully the moment.

It was a pleasure to speak with Daniel , you noticed his down-to-earth approach to life and how deep his passion for cigars was. His willingness to help others in their journey in the world of cigars shined through. You could tell that he did not look down on people who fail to follow their dreams and would support a person not to give up. An attitude that is missing in society and that many should follow. I would like to thank Daniel for the opportunity to do the interview. It was pure pleasure.
