A small but powerful cigar.
Construction
The band around the cigar gave me a royal yet cozy feeling. As if it was made to be enjoyed just before bedtime. The cigar was incredibly firm with out any veins and had a slightly oily feeling to it.
Wrapper: Mexico – Binder: Dominican – Filler: Dominican and Nicaragua
Smell and cold draw
The wrapper had a wonderfully sweet floral scent while the filler had a scent of coffee beans and hay. The cold draft gave lovely flavors of creaminess, nuttiness and florality.
Lets light up the PDR A. Flores 1975 Gran Reserva Maduro Half Corona cigar
The texture was creamy and the flavors I felt were nutmeg, chocolate, espresso, a flavor that is most easily described as a combination of florality with nuances of fruitiness, Almond Mass alluring sweetness, general nuttiness, hay, spiciness and woodiness. In the background there was a lovely shade of citrus peel that stood out a little. The retrohalation tickled the nose slightly and gave nuances of white pepper and hay.
After taste
Walenuts
Body
Medium bordering on full
Smoke time
40 minutes
Conclusion
The PDR A. Flores 1975 Gran Reserva Maduro Half Corona cigar has a lovely balance of flavors with citrus peel that stands out a bit. The body that is medium on the verge of full makes it suitable for the slightly more experienced aficionados. If I compare price vs taste vs quality I think you get a lot of cigar for the money. I would consider paying a little more to smoke it than I did.
