Bentley Churchill cigar review

I was a little shocked at the complexity of the cigar.  I had expected more flavor shifts than I got.  Instead of classic thirds or even fourths that are usually found in most Churchill cigars, I got two parts.

Construction

The band around the cigar gave me a sense of luxury. I’m not sure if Bentley’s association with premium is the reason. It might be because of the band or perhaps a combination of both I got that premium feeling. But it was a wonderful feeling to hold it. The cigar was firm with no veins that I felt. There was a silky oiliness that wrapped around the cigar like a blanket.

Wrapper: Ecuador – Binder: Nicaragua – Filler: Nicaragua

Smell and cold draw

The wrapper had a lovely chocolatey scent while the filler gave aromas reminiscent of espresso and fruitiness. The cold draw of the cigar gave flavors of milk chocolate with an undertone of oatmeal.

1/2 Let’s light the Bentley cigar

The first thing that came to my mind after I had roasted the cigar was the draw. The draft was incredibly airy and brought with it a slightly creamy texture. The flavors i felt where chocolate as the most dominant flavor, floral flavors that reminded me of tulips and woodiness that went in the direction of cedar. In the background there was an acidity that is most easily described as the acidity found in raspberries, nuttiness, saltiness and grass. The retrohalation was smooth and gave nuances of black pepper.

2/2 Let’s enjoy the second part of the Bentley cigar

I thought the texture of the Bentley Churchill cigar became a little creamier. Which was incredibly nice. The chocolate flavor took up even more space on the palette than before, the chocolate flavors were cacao and dark chocolate. The cigar also offered flavors of cedar, hay, nuttiness and a general sourness among the dominant flavors. In the background there were shades of fruitiness, vanilla sugar sweetness and chilli. I was a little shocked by the chili flavor in the cigar and think it’s unique. It is rare that you feel that taste. The retrohale was still smooth and gave nuances of cedar wood and black pepper

After taste

Walenuts

Body

Medium bordering on full

Smoke time

90 minutes

Conclusion

A good cigar with dominant chocolate flavors. The body is on the upper part of medium bordering on full, but still suits aficionados who have smoked cigars for a shorter period who are curious about a stronger body. The cigar is not particularly complex and you don’t have to put all your focus on it. If I compare price vs taste vs quality, I think it is where it should be.
