Fratello classico robusto

Fratello classico robusto cigar

Another hit from Fratello. Even though it is the same blend the Short Robusto, it tastes like a completely different cigar. Read about the Fratello classico Short Robusto and arlequin in the links in the bottom of the page.

Construction

The cigar had no veins you could feel that would indicate it would glow unevenly, it was tightly and firmly rolled. The wrapper had a silky smooth oiliness.

Wrapper: Nicaragua – Binder: Ecuador – Filler: Peru and Nicaragua

Taste

Smell and cold draw

The scent on the wrapper was hay and fruitiness while the filler smelled like hay. The cold draw brought nuances of hay and citrus.I think the citrus shade was interesting. It’s not often I feel it in the cold draft.

1/3 Let’s see what Fratello classico robusto has to offer.

The draw of the cigar was airy and there was no particular creaminess or other texture that stood out much. It was incredibly lightly smoked. The cigar produced quite a lot of smoke. The flavors it offered were easy to find and gave nuances of fresh spices, citrus, a combination of hay and freshly cut grass, a maltiness/milkiness that was interesting but hard to explain and a florality that went in the rose bouquet direction. The retrohalation tickled a bit in the background and gave light nuances of white pepper.

2/3 Fratello classico robusto shows a slight complexity

The cigar was still airy but now a light creamy texture was starting to come in which was nice to feel. It felt a bit like the cigar picked up the pace a bit to show some complexity. The taste of hay and grass changed and the hay taste became more dominant, there were shades of cacao to the taste buds, there was a woodiness in the background that reminded of oak and the floweriness from earlier now reminded more of tulips. The retrohalation became smoother and the white pepper nuance remained.

3/3 A lovely finish to the cigar.

I was a little shocked when I got into the last third, the cigar brought out flavors I wasn’t expecting. The texture changed again, the draw was slightly airy and the texture was slightly Creamy with a slight oiliness. A really lovely start to the last part. The flavors the cigar brought were oaky, light espresso in the background. What shocked me was that now in the last third a fruitiness emerged that usually comes earlier. The fruitiness had a nuance that I can’t describe other than that it reminded me a little of green grapes. Towards the end, shades of hay and hickory entered the whole blend. The retrohale was reminiscent of hickory.
